Trump Imposes New Tariffs Ranging from 10% to 125% on Imports from Dozens of US Trade Partners

Trump imposed new tariffs ranging from 10% to 125% on imports from dozens of America’s trade partners.

Starting Friday morning, the Trump administration imposed new tariffs between 10% and 125% on goods imported from dozens of America’s trade partners, including European Union countries, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and several Latin American countries.

According to CNN, the Office of the United States Trade Representative announced that these tariffs cover approximately 99.4% of U.S. imports and were implemented following months-long investigations into allegations of forced labor used in the production of export goods from these countries.

This action was taken after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the Trump administration’s previous broad tariffs, and the President promised to find alternative ways to impose tariffs on foreign goods.

Brazil, rejecting the 125% tariff, has called for reciprocal action, while Mexico’s economy minister stated that the effective tariff paid by their country for exports to the U.S. has not changed.
