Trump: The naval blockade of Iran will continue until the agreement is fully finalized
The U.S. President announced that despite the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, the naval blockade of the country’s ports will be maintained until a complete agreement is reached between Tehran and Washington.
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, emphasized on Friday, April 17th, that the naval blockade of Iran’s ports will remain in place even with the opening of the Strait of Hormuz for ship passage.
He, who had previously welcomed the announcement of the reopening of this passage by Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, said that these restrictions will continue until the complete finalization of the agreement between the two countries. This temporary two-week agreement began on April 6th.
Trump wrote on the social media platform TruthSocial: ‘The Strait of Hormuz is completely open and fully ready for commercial activity and passage, but the naval blockade will remain fully and effectively in place only concerning Iran until our deal with Iran is 100% complete.’
He also added that this process should proceed very quickly because most of the issues have already been negotiated.
The naval blockade of Iran’s ports was imposed by the U.S. President’s order after the first round of negotiations between Iranian and American delegations in Pakistan ended without results.
