Trump offers Xi Jinping help for an agreement with Iran

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said after meeting with Xi Jinping in Beijing that the Chinese President has expressed his readiness to help achieve an agreement with Iran and keep the Strait of Hormuz open.

Trump told Fox News that Xi said he would be happy to help in any way he can.

He added that the Chinese President emphasized that Beijing does not intend to send military equipment to Iran and stated this firmly.

Trump also said that Xi Jinping wants the Strait of Hormuz to remain open, a waterway through which a significant portion of the world’s energy exports pass.

The White House also announced after the meeting of the two presidents that Washington and Beijing agree that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open to maintain the free flow of energy, and China opposes militarizing this route and charging fees from ships.
