Trump: Limiting my war powers amid negotiations is unpatriotic
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, criticized the House of Representatives’ vote on a resolution to limit his war powers, calling it an unpatriotic act.
Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that the House voted to limit his war powers right in the middle of his final negotiations to end the war with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He noted that all Democrats and four Republican representatives supported this plan, adding, ‘Who does such an unpatriotic act? They know at what stage the negotiations are.’
The President of the United States also accused the Democrats of being willing to sacrifice the country’s success out of hatred for Trump and described the four Republicans supporting this resolution as attention-seekers.
On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution expressing its opposition to the continuation of Trump’s administration’s war against Iran. This resolution does not obligate the President to stop the war but is a sign of part of Congress’s opposition to the White House’s military policies regarding Iran.
