Trump’s eligibility for the presidency is being reviewed
The US Supreme Court is holding a hearing today to consider a case that will ultimately determine whether Donald Trump meets the requirements to run in the upcoming presidential election.
In this case, the Supreme Court must decide on the ruling of the Colorado Supreme Court.
The Colorado court had previously ruled that Mr. Trump is not eligible to run for the US presidency due to his actions during the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
This ruling depends on the interpretation of a section of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution and the judicial practices of each state.
Three of the nine Supreme Court justices were appointed by Mr. Trump during his presidency.
