Trump’s Reaction to Russia’s Missile Test: Putin Should End the Ukraine War
According to Reuters, U.S. President Donald Trump responded to Russia’s nuclear cruise missile test, saying Washington does not need to test such weapons because the world’s largest nuclear submarine is stationed right near Russia’s shores.
He added that they know we have a submarine that doesn’t need to fly about 13,000 kilometers.
Trump further urged Vladimir Putin to end the Ukraine war instead of showcasing military power, a war that he said should have ended within a week but has now entered its fourth year.
In response to Trump’s remarks, the Kremlin stated that Russia acts based on its national interests and the recent missile test should not cause tension in relations with Washington.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the development of new weapons is part of Moscow’s defense policy to ensure national security.
The test of the Burevestnik missile, which Putin claims can bypass any defense system, is Russia’s latest move in the arms race with the West following the U.S. withdrawal from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty in 2001.
