Turkey arrested five people on charges of espionage for Iran
Turkey’s intelligence and judicial agencies have arrested five people on charges of spying for the IRGC
According to Anadolu, the official Turkish news agency, the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization, has arrested five people on suspicion of espionage in political and military fields
These suspects have been accused of making contact with IRGC intelligence officers
They are accused of gathering information about military bases and sensitive areas in Turkey and transferring this information to Iranian intelligence agencies
The arrests of the five individuals took place in Istanbul, Antalya, and Mersin
Relations between Tehran and Ankara have been tense in recent weeks following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Turkey, and both sides have summoned each other’s diplomatic representatives for explanations
