Turkey's Halkbank Again Asks the US to Reconsider Iran Sanctions

Turkey’s Halkbank once again asked the United States to reconsider the sanctions on Iran.

U.S. prosecutors say that Halkbank helped the Islamic Republic secretly transfer $20 billion of blocked funds and deliver oil revenues to Iran.

Coinciding with the phone conversation between the Presidents of the United States and Turkey, which both Donald Trump and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described as constructive, Turkey’s Halkbank requested the U.S. Supreme Court to also review the lower court’s ruling regarding this financial institution.

According to the issued ruling, Turkey’s Halkbank may face legal action for helping the Islamic Republic of Iran circumvent U.S. sanctions.
