Turkish Shooter Wins Medal Without Equipment

One of the surprises of this edition of the Paris Olympics was Yusuf Dikic from Turkey, who came to the competitions without special equipment and won a silver medal in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event with his teammate Şuval Ilayda Tarhan, bringing it to their country.

This is Turkey’s first medal in this category of competitions.

An image of him wearing regular glasses and aiming with one hand in his pocket has been widely shared on social media, especially among Turkish users.

A post on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, with the title ‘Turkey sent a 51-year-old man without eye lens or ear protection and won a silver medal’ garnered more than 90 million views.

More than anything, Yusuf Dikic’s informal style, without any of the optical tools used by his competitors, distinguished him from his rivals in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team shooting event.
