Turkish Defense Minister Guler: No Plans for Withdrawal from Syria

Guler, the Turkish Defense Minister, says there is no plan for withdrawal from Syria.

Yasar Guler, the Turkish Defense Minister, announced that the country has no immediate plans to withdraw its forces from Syria and will assist the new Damascus government in rebuilding and training the army.

According to Reuters, Guler responded to the agency’s questions by stating that Turkey’s main goal at present is to aid in the reconstruction of Syria and the return of millions of Syrian refugees residing in Turkey.

Based on the same report, the Turkish Defense Minister, referring to the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syrian military bases, said that negotiations between the two countries are underway to prevent unintended and indirect military confrontations, and Ankara is doing everything possible to maintain Syria’s territorial integrity.
