Turkish Foreign Minister Announces Readiness to Participate in Mine Clearance of the Strait of Hormuz Following Potential Agreement

The Turkish Foreign Minister announced readiness to participate in mine clearing in the Strait of Hormuz following a potential agreement.

Hakan Fidan, the Turkish Foreign Minister, stated that if a potential peace agreement is reached between Iran and Pakistan, Turkey could participate in mine-clearing operations in the Strait of Hormuz.

Fidan, speaking with reporters in London on Friday evening, expressed that it is expected that after any agreement, a technical team will carry out mine-clearing operations in this strait, adding that Turkey views these actions as a positive humanitarian duty.

He also said that any mine-clearing operation should be conducted by a technical team composed of various countries and after a potential agreement between Iran and the United States, emphasizing that Turkey will have no problem participating if these conditions are met.

In another part of his statements, the Turkish Foreign Minister added that in his opinion, issues related to Iran’s nuclear program could be resolved in the next round of negotiations in Pakistan.
