Turkish Parliament Approves Finland’s NATO Membership

With the Turkish Parliament’s approval of Finland’s NATO membership request, the country will become the thirty-first member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Turkey resisted Finland’s request to join the Western defense alliance for several months, claiming that the country supports terrorists.

Sweden, which applied to join NATO at the same time last year, still faces opposition from Ankara for similar reasons.

Any expansion of NATO requires the approval of all members.
