Turkish President Describes Suppression of Pro-Palestinian Students as Unjust

The President of Turkey described the suppression of pro-Palestinian students as oppressive.

Erdogan, referring to student protests in the US, said the boundaries of Western democracy are defined based on Israel’s interests.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, on Thursday, in a speech, described the suppression of pro-Palestinian students and academics as oppressive, referring to the widespread protests in American universities.

Protests in universities across the United States, in response to the killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza by the Israeli army, have expanded to such an extent that they have been met with suppression and the arrest of many protesters at several higher education institutions, including Columbia and California universities.

He clarified that these protesting students are subjected to violence, oppression, suffering, and even torture merely for demanding a halt to the killings in Gaza.
