Turkey’s Statistical Institute: Russia and Iran are the top foreign buyers of homes in Turkey
According to the announcement by Turkey’s Statistical Institute, Russia and Iran have remained at the top of the list of the largest foreign home buyers in Turkey, continuing the trend of recent months.
In its latest report on home sales in March, the institute announced that Russian citizens purchased 1,175 homes in that month, making them the largest foreign buyers of homes compared to other non-Turkish nationals. In the same month, Iranian citizens ranked second on this list with the purchase of 472 homes.
A while after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, Iranian citizens lost their first place on this list, and Russian citizens became the largest foreign buyers of homes in Turkey.
Some time ago, Mojtaba Yousefi, a member of the Presidium of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, reported that 7 billion dollars had left Iran for the purchase of property in Turkey during the years 2018 to 2020.
About four years ago, the Turkish government facilitated the laws related to investment through property purchase to attract foreign capital and prevent the devaluation of the lira by making some changes.
