Toumaj Salehi’s Twitter account: Toumaj’s trial will be held on March 16.
The former Twitter account, now X, of the dissident rapper Toumaj Salehi has announced that his trial on charges of spreading falsehoods will be held on March 16.
This account stated that Toumaj Salehi has committed no crime and is unlawfully imprisoned due to fabricated security scenarios, and he should be released immediately.
About two weeks ago, Toumaj Salehi’s lawyer reported that the one-year prison sentence for this rapper was confirmed in the appeal court of Isfahan province.
This conviction is related to a case that was filed against him after his re-arrest on November 30, 2023, shortly after his release from prison.
He was first arrested in September 2021 after releasing the song ‘Buy a Mouse Hole’ and was released on bail after 10 days. He was arrested again on October 30, 2022, during nationwide protests in Iran, after living in hiding for nearly two months in a house in the village of Gardbisheh, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province.
Last year, Toumaj Salehi’s arrest was met with significant reactions, and calls for the release of this Iranian artist were made worldwide.
