Twitter storm in support of Zanyar Tondro, a young hero facing the risk of blindness

A number of Twitter users started a Twitter storm at 10 PM on April 3rd, Iran time, in support of Zanyar Tondro. Zanyar is an 18-year-old protester who was shot in the head and eye in Piranshahr and has left Iran for treatment.

Social media users tweeted the hashtags ZanyarTondro and #ZanyarTondro in Persian and English, calling for the preservation of his life and sight.

In posters published in support of him, he is seen in a boat, symbolizing the images of him released in a refugee boat. In one of these posters, Zanyar is referred to as a hero at risk of blindness.

The release of images showing Zanyar in a boat, claiming he was deprived of access to medicine and even food and water, garnered much sympathy from users. It was later reported that he had been transferred to a refugee camp in Turkey.

Zanyar was handed over by Greek police to Turkish police and is deprived of access to treatment in the Mugla refugee camp.
