Two Boxers from Iran's Youth Team Disappear at World Championships

Disappearance of 2 Boxers from Iran’s Youth Team in World Championships

According to received reports, Erin Saed Panah and Morteza Rigi, two national boxers of Iran’s youth national team, left the team’s camp in Spain in the middle of the world championships and did not return to Iran.

Efforts by security officers accompanying the national team and members of the Islamic Republic’s embassy in Spain to find these two boxers in Spain have been unsuccessful. Additionally, other players and coaches returned to Iran last night under strict security measures before the end of the championships.

This is while some of Iran’s national players are still in the competition bracket and have not been eliminated from the tournament.

Previously, Hossein Soori, the president of the Boxing Federation, had also announced that he would not return to Iran in protest against the bloodshed by the Islamic Republic. He has revoked the bail of all national team members.
