UAE closed its airspace; missile warning and explosion reported in Dubai
The United Arab Emirates announced that as an exceptional precautionary measure, it has temporarily closed its airspace completely.
The state news agency of the country reported, citing the UAE’s civil aviation authority, that this decision was made following rapid security developments in the region.
Early Tuesday morning in Dubai, a reporter from Agence France-Presse reported hearing three explosions after receiving a mobile phone alert about possible missile threats, which urged residents to immediately take shelter in safe places.
The UAE’s Ministry of Defense had earlier announced that it is countering incoming missile and drone threats from Iran.
In the attacks on Monday, a civilian was killed, and these attacks caused disruption at the world’s busiest airport and a fire at a major oil facility.
Reports indicate that these attacks targeted parts of the UAE’s energy and transportation infrastructure, increasing economic pressure on the country.
