The Emirates intends to invest 40 billion dollars in Italy.
Georgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, announced that the United Arab Emirates plans to invest 40 billion dollars in the country. This financial commitment was announced following the first official visit of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, to Italy.
This investment will focus on various sectors, including artificial intelligence, data centers, underwater activities, renewable energies, and rare minerals. Meloni considered this investment a significant step in bilateral relations between the two countries, turning them from distant partners into collaborators on a common path.
This investment will also support the Mattei Plan, named after the Italian Prime Minister. This plan aims to develop Africa to reduce the arrival of migrants via the sea to Italy. Meloni also mentioned a project announced in January, which includes cooperation between Italy, Albania, and the Emirates in transferring electricity through an underwater cable in the Adriatic Sea.
