UK Warns of High Risk of Deliberate Attacks on Ships in the Strait of Hormuz

The UK warns of a high risk of deliberate attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has warned that the likelihood of deliberate hostile actions against ships in the Strait of Hormuz is very high.

This organization stated that commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz continues, but the volume of passage has decreased, and ships are only traveling through two routes: one near the coast of Oman and the other along the coast of Iran.

According to UKMTO, in five attacks on ships that were passing through the waters of Oman, the route recommended by the US military, Iran has been identified as responsible, although Tehran has not officially accepted responsibility for these attacks so far.

The center also noted that Iran has asked ships to pass through the Tehran-approved route near the Iranian coast, a route that the Islamic Republic is trying to exert more control over.
