Ukraine and Russia agreed on a prisoner exchange

The peace talks between the representatives of Moscow and Kyiv, held on Friday, May 15, in Istanbul, concluded after two hours of discussions with an agreement on a prisoner exchange.

The Ukrainian Defense Minister stated that during the Istanbul negotiations, a ceasefire was discussed, and both sides agreed to exchange one thousand prisoners from each side.

The Ukrainian Defense Minister also mentioned that during the Istanbul negotiations, there were discussions about a potential contact between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin.

The Russian delegation also expressed satisfaction with the negotiations and stated that the talks will continue.

Published images show that the management of the start of this round of negotiations was led by Hakan Fidan, the Turkish Foreign Minister.

After the negotiations ended, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with his American counterpart, Donald Trump.

Senior officials from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Poland were also present during this call.
