Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russia will begin soon
The commander of Ukraine’s ground forces said on Thursday, March 23, that given the weakening of Russian attacks on the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian forces will soon launch a counteroffensive.
General Oleksandr Syrskyi wrote in a message on social media that the Russian assault has significantly weakened. We will soon take advantage of this opportunity as we did in the past around Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kupiansk, and Balakliia.
His remarks are the most significant comments from Ukrainian officials regarding the potential shift in the balance of power on the Bakhmut front and the Ukrainian army’s move towards offensive tactics after about four months of defense against continuous attacks by the Russian army and Wagner private company’s mercenaries.
A Ukrainian soldier on this front told Reuters reporters that in previous days, there were five to six airstrikes, but on Thursday, there was only one attack by a helicopter from a very long distance.
The reason for the reduction in Russian attacks on the Bakhmut front might be the deployment of forces and equipment to other locations.
