The Ukrainian Defense Minister was dismissed due to corruption
According to sources close to the Ukrainian President, the country’s Defense Minister will likely be dismissed, and the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence service will replace him.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has recently faced criticism over financial corruption. The website of Germany’s Channel One TV, Tagesschau, reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is likely to dismiss the current Defense Minister, Oleksii Reznikov.
This news agency, quoting David Arakhamia, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and someone close to Zelensky, wrote that Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence service, will replace the current minister. Reznikov will become the Minister of Strategic Industries. It is still unclear when this change will occur.
Arakhamia, who leads the Servant of the People party faction, Zelensky’s party, in the Ukrainian parliament, said that war necessitates changes in personnel policy. He added that during wartime, ministries related to security should be led by individuals from security agencies.
