Ulf Kristersson sends reinforcements from Sweden to Latvia
Ulf Kristersson, the Prime Minister of Sweden, said on Thursday that his country intends to send forces to Latvia as part of NATO’s plan to deploy troops in Baltic countries that share a land border with Russia and its ally Belarus.
During a press conference with his Latvian counterpart, Evika Siliņa, he said that the government made an official decision this morning to instruct the armed forces to prepare for deployment. The aim is for these forces to be operational from the beginning of next year.
He added that this assistance will also include armored vehicles and Leopard tanks.
