UN Aid to Afghanistan and 18 Other Vulnerable Countries
The United Nations will provide $250 million in aid to 19 drought-stricken and vulnerable countries. This assistance will be channeled through the Central Emergency Response Fund.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan, 74% of households lack adequate shelter, and an immediate budget of $30 million is needed to assist them.
This organization has announced that about 56% of Afghan families live in partially damaged shelters and 18% live in ruins.
With the fall of the previous government in Afghanistan, international aid and the activities of relief organizations have significantly decreased, and natural disasters over the past year have exacerbated the crisis.
Relief organizations have reported that recent earthquakes in the provinces of Badakhshan, Farah, Badghis, and Jawzjan have displaced dozens of families.
