The United Nations has called for the release of Niloufar Bayani

The United Nations Environment Programme has called for the release of environmental activist Niloufar Bayani and all imprisoned environmental activists and experts in Iran.

In its statement, the organization recalled that Ms. Bayani worked as a consultant at its Geneva office from 2012 to 2017.

The statement mentioned that Ms. Bayani, who was a very dedicated and hardworking colleague, focused on enhancing community resilience against disasters and climate change.

The statement confirmed Ms. Bayani’s mission in countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Ivory Coast, and Sri Lanka.

The statement added regarding Ms. Bayani’s media activities that she was the main author of several publications of the organization that examined how well ecosystem regulators can act as shields against disasters.
