UN General Assembly Resolution on Israel’s Nuclear Weapons Adopted

While Israel and the Arabs have reached a serious understanding and cooperation, the adoption of the United Nations General Assembly resolution on this state’s nuclear weapons has been a significant event.

This resolution was brought to the General Assembly by Egypt, and the Palestinian Authority along with nineteen countries, including Bahrain, Jordan, Morocco, and the UAE, were among the signatories of the proposed text.

In this resolution, presented under the title of the risk of enrichment and nuclear weapon programs in the Middle East, Israel is called upon to dismantle its nuclear weapons and submit to full control and oversight by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Besides Israel, the United States and Canada, along with Palau and Micronesia, voted against this resolution, while many European countries abstained. However, Sweden, Finland, Spain, and Ukraine supported it.
