UN: Israel Prevents Food Aid from Reaching Gaza

The UN says Israel is blocking the transfer of food aid to Gaza

The United Nations announced on Tuesday that Israel is mainly obstructing the entry of food aid convoys among the various aid convoys sent to Gaza, even as the region is on the brink of famine.

Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the UN humanitarian aid agency, mentioned during a press conference in Geneva that, according to March statistics, obtaining permission to deliver food supplies has been much more difficult than obtaining permission for other types of aid to the Gaza Strip.

He told reporters that the prevention of food convoys, which particularly needed to head towards northern Gaza where 70% of the population is facing famine, has been three times more than the prevention of other humanitarian aid convoys.

It has been 6 months since Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, and Israel is currently facing increasing international pressure to agree to allow more aid into Gaza.
