Unknown individuals shoot at a teachers’ union activist in Sistan and Baluchestan

A teacher and teachers’ union activist in Dashtiari County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, who was injured in a shooting by unknown individuals on Teacher’s Day in Iran, passed away last night in the hospital.

According to the Coordinating Council of Teachers’ Union Associations, which is an active union body in Iran, Hossein Mahdipoor, a sociology teacher in Dashtiari County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, and the admin of the Teachers’ Demands Channel, was attacked and shot by unknown individuals on May 2nd, Teacher’s Day, and was severely injured.

He was also detained for a period last year coinciding with Teacher’s Day.

Teachers’ union activists, expressing regret over the death of this active teacher, say they expect follow-up from the Dashtiari Regional Education Department and the Sistan and Baluchestan Education Department, and they call on judicial and law enforcement authorities to identify and punish those responsible for this assassination.
