Unprecedented Heat in Iran Leads to Closure of Offices and Banks

A sharp rise in temperatures in Iran resulted in widespread closures of offices and banks on the 3rd and 4th of Mordad. The province of Tehran, with office closures from noon on Wednesday and a recorded temperature of 43 degrees in Varamin, experienced its hottest days.

Working hours in the provinces of East Azerbaijan and Golestan were limited, and branches of state banks in Khuzestan were closed on Thursday. Offices in Mazandaran and Alborz also reduced their working hours.

Offices of executive agencies and banks in Sistan and Baluchestan closed until 2 PM on Wednesday and were completely closed on Thursday. The provinces of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Kermanshah, and Kerman also announced the closure of their offices and banks on Thursday.

The temperature increase is expected to continue this week and next, with forecasts suggesting that in the next five days, temperatures in most parts of the country will reach 50 degrees Celsius. The city of Tehran will also experience its hottest days in the next three days, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.
