US and UK Call for Immediate Halt to Violence in Sudan

The US and UK called for an immediate halt to violence in Sudan

The foreign ministers of the US and UK, in response to the armed conflict between militia groups and the Sudanese army, which has so far resulted in the deaths of about a hundred people, called for an immediate cessation of violence in Sudan.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with his British counterpart James Cleverly on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Japan on Monday, April 17.

Mr. Blinken said in this meeting that there is a shared deep concern over the violence in Sudan and the threat it poses to civilians, the Sudanese nation, and potentially even the region.

On the third day of the Sudan clashes, it was reported that at least 97 civilians were killed, and Reuters wrote that it seems the army gained the upper hand in this armed conflict on Sunday.
