U.S. Department of Justice Arrests Iranian Dual National for Illegal Export of Technology

The U.S. Department of Justice has arrested an Iranian dual national on charges of illegal technology export.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced in a statement the arrest of an Iranian dual national on charges of illegally exporting American technology to Iran.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office has identified this Iranian-American citizen as Gholamreza Goudarzi or Ron Goudarzi, residing in Porter, Texas, who was arrested on August 31 at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

This 76-year-old man is accused of smuggling parts and components used in the production of drones and manned aircraft from the U.S. to Iran.

According to the statement from the U.S. Department of Justice, Mr. Goudarzi is currently in custody until September 6, when he will appear in court to address the reasons for his detention.

According to court documents, Gholamreza Goudarzi illegally exported aircraft parts, as well as oil and drilling components, to Iran from November 30, 2020, to July 5.
