An Iranian dual national arrested by the US Department of Justice on charges of illegal technology exports

The US Department of Justice has arrested a dual Iranian national on charges of illegal technology exports.

The US Department of Justice has announced the arrest of a dual Iranian national on charges of illegally exporting American technology to Iran.

The US Attorney’s Office has identified this Iranian-American citizen as Gholamreza Goudarzi or Ron Goudarzi, a resident of Porter, Texas, who was detained on September 1st at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

This 76-year-old man is accused of smuggling parts and components used in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles as well as manned aircraft from the US to Iran.

According to the US Department of Justice statement, Mr. Goudarzi will remain in custody until September 15th when he will appear in court for a detention hearing to address the reasons for his arrest.

Court documents reveal that Gholamreza Goudarzi illegally exported aircraft-related parts to Iran from December 1, 2020, to July 4, 2021, in addition to oil and drilling components.
