The US Secretary of Energy: Iran’s uranium enrichment and plutonium reprocessing must be stopped
Chris Wright, the US Secretary of Energy, stated during the 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is being held from September 15 (24 Shahrivar) to September 19 (28 Shahrivar) in Vienna, that Iran’s weaponization path, including all capabilities for uranium enrichment and plutonium reprocessing, must be completely dismantled.
He referred to the US and Israeli airstrikes in July on Iran’s enrichment facilities, saying that the suspension of inspections following those attacks has made the assessment of Iran’s inventory unclear.
The Agency had previously emphasized the concerning accumulation of approximately 4,409 kilograms of uranium enriched up to 60 percent, a quantity which, if increased to 90 percent, would be sufficient for 10 nuclear weapons according to the Agency’s standards.
