US: Iran's Activities to Influence Presidential Election Have Increased

U.S. activities by Iran to influence the presidential election have increased.

A senior U.S. intelligence official says Iran has increased its efforts to influence American voters ahead of the United States presidential and congressional elections.

According to this U.S. official, the Islamic Republic of Iran has become more active in this period compared to previous ones. The official, whose name was not mentioned by Reuters, also considered Russia to be the most active foreign adversary of the United States, trying to influence the U.S. presidential election on November 5th, while China is more focused on influencing other elections. This U.S. official said in a briefing with reporters on Friday, September 7th, that U.S. intelligence agencies are increasing confidential warnings to individuals targeted by foreign influence operations. Previously, in late April, Avril Haines, the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, announced in a Senate meeting that Russia, China, and Iran are attempting to influence the U.S. presidential election in November 2024.
