US Opposes Britain's Designation of IRGC as Terrorist

US opposition to Britain’s labeling of the IRGC as a terrorist organization

According to the London-based Daily Telegraph, the United States believes that the British government can play a key role in diplomatic relations with Iran’s government, but if it declares the IRGC illegal, this role will be weakened.

Based on this report, the British Foreign Office is using this US stance to oppose the Home Office regarding labeling the IRGC as a terrorist organization, even though the US itself had previously listed this entity as a terrorist organization during Donald Trump’s administration.

If the IRGC is declared a terrorist organization, membership in it, attending its meetings, encouraging support for it, or displaying its symbols in public will be considered a crime.

The Daily Telegraph notes that this entity was established after the February 1979 revolution, but today it has become a major military, political, and economic force in that country.
