U.S. Representatives Condemn Poisoning of Girls in Iran
A bipartisan group of U.S. Congress members has condemned the Iranian government over the recent poisonings of female students in Iran.
According to the Associated Press, Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democratic representative from Texas, announced the formation of a congressional caucus called ‘Women of Iran’ with the support of nearly 20 Republican and Democratic representatives.
This caucus intends to draft resolutions and potential legislative proposals focusing on women’s rights in Iran.
Earlier this year, the House of Representatives passed a resolution with a large majority expressing solidarity with Iranian protesters.
Despite more than four months passing since the start of the suspicious poisonings in predominantly girls’ schools in Iran, reports of these incidents have continued to emerge from across the country this week.
On Tuesday, images and videos from Iran showed that students in various schools in the cities of Kermanshah, Ardabil, Karaj, Urmia, Saqqez, and Islamshahr were poisoned.
