The U.S. Department of the Treasury sanctioned several individuals and entities connected to Russia.
On Wednesday, April 2, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that it has imposed sanctions on individuals and entities based in Russia who are involved in supplying weapons and goods, including stolen Ukrainian grain, to the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
According to this statement, Houshang Ghayrat, an Afghan trader residing in Russia, and his brother Sohrab Ghayrat are among those who, in coordination with Saeed Al-Jamal, a senior financial official of the Houthis, have procured millions of dollars worth of goods from Russia to be sent to areas under Houthi control in Yemen.
The ministry stated that this network has procured tens of millions of dollars worth of goods from Russia, including weapons, sensitive equipment, and grain stolen from Ukraine.
The U.S. has also identified eight digital wallets used by the Houthis to transfer financial resources related to their activities.
