The US updated the list of sanctioned Iranian individuals
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department has added a number of Iranian, Emirati, and Singaporean entities and individuals to its sanctions list.
Behnam Shahriari is among these individuals, and a company registered in Singapore and the UAE has also been sanctioned.
The US Treasury Department has stated that the inclusion of these individuals in the sanctions list is based on the anti-terrorism sanctions regulations in the country.
The bank accounts and any potential assets of the sanctioned individuals and entities in the US will be seized, and American citizens will not be allowed to engage in financial transactions with them.
The United States considers the Islamic Republic to be a supporter of terrorism and has also revoked the political immunities of the Iranian government within US territory.
Simultaneously with the update of this list, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the recent agreement with Iran on the prisoner exchange does not signify a change in the US approach towards the Islamic Republic of Iran.
