Vedant Patel: Reviving the JCPOA is still not on the U.S. agenda

Vedant Patel, Deputy Spokesperson for the United States Department of State, said in a Wednesday press conference, in response to statements by Iran’s Foreign Minister, that the Biden administration is currently focused on the human rights situation in Iran, Iran’s military aid to Russia, and the security of American forces, and that reviving the JCPOA is still not on the U.S. government’s agenda.

Mr. Patel emphasized that, from the Biden administration’s perspective, the demands of the protesters in Iran have not yet been met.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran’s Foreign Minister, recently stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that the Iranian parliament is seeking to pass a bill to set a time limit for nuclear negotiations, after which the doors to negotiation would be closed.
