Verdict Issued for Defendants in the 2022 Evin Prison Fire Case

The verdict for the defendants in the 2022 Evin Prison fire case has been issued

The human rights news agency HRANA has reported that four defendants in the 2022 Evin Prison fire case have been sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison and 518 lashes.

According to this report, Branch 1148 of the Tehran Criminal Court II issued this verdict based on charges such as property destruction, disrupting prison order, and disobedience and defiance of officers’ orders. Meanwhile, the defendants in this case have described and rejected all these charges as baseless.

HRANA’s report adds that this verdict was issued by Branch 1148 of the Tehran Criminal Court II, presided over by Jabar Javadirami, on Wednesday, June 20. According to the verdict, Loqman Aminpour, Meysam Dehbanzaadeh, and Majid Roshannajad have each been sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison and 148 lashes, while Reza Salmanzadeh has been sentenced to seven years in prison and 74 lashes.
