The verdict for the Ukrainian plane crash case has been issued for ten defendants
According to the announcement by the Iranian judiciary, the court’s verdict regarding the defendants in the Ukrainian plane crash case has been issued
In the issued judgment, the first defendant has been identified as the commander of the Tor-M1 defense system, and it is stated that he, believing the target’s characteristics resembled a cruise missile, acted against the command post’s orders and without obtaining permission, contrary to the relevant guidelines, and fired two missiles at the Ukrainian plane, flight PS752
Iranian domestic media reported that for the first defendant, the commander of the Tor-M1 defense system, the sentence is 13 years of imprisonment, with the maximum penalty being 10 years in prison, accounting for the previous detention period
In the description of the first defendant’s charges, it is stated that according to the relevant operational directive, the system was in a limited fire mode, and missile firing without permission from the command post was not authorized. According to the command post officer’s statements, a warning message had been issued to all defense positions that no one was allowed to act without command coordination
