Vienna’s Final Station
After the conclusion of the latest round of negotiations in Vienna, the European and American parties claim that the final text is ready to be signed. Ulyanov, the Russian representative at the International Atomic Energy Agency, has implicitly confirmed this claim. However, IRNA and Nour News, media outlets affiliated with the government and the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council, have denied any agreement and approval of the text by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s negotiating team. The diplomatic delegations of the negotiating countries have returned to their capitals to make a political decision and conduct a final review of this round of negotiations, which according to their claims, is the last round of this political-diplomatic marathon.
U.S. Consensus Building
The atmosphere of the negotiations and the consensus between the U.S. and Europe are progressing in such a way that if an agreement is not reached, all eyes will turn towards the Islamic Republic, and it will be introduced as the culprit for the failure of the negotiations. What increasingly leads to accusations against the Islamic Republic is the lack of proper communication by the media team of the negotiations and the lack of transparency in declaring their demands. Additionally, the issue of PMD being raised in the new round and the request for its closure in the JCPOA revival negotiations politically, rather than through the agency in a technical framework, further strengthens the suspicion that Iran lacks the will to reach a comprehensive agreement. We must wait for Iran’s final decision regarding the final text and the proposal from Europe to see whether the JCPOA will eventually reach a conclusion or not.
