Vladimir Putin was sworn in for another six-year term as president. Today, in a lavish ceremony at the Kremlin Palace, Vladimir Putin took the oath of office for another six-year term, thus officially extending his rule over Russia for another six years, marking a quarter-century of his governance.

He was elected for another presidential term in Russia with a large majority in March.

Vladimir Putin began his fifth presidential term by thanking the nation’s support and the military in the war with Ukraine, which he calls a special military operation.

I thank the participants in the special military operation. I want to thank everyone who fights for our motherland. Only we will determine Russia’s destiny. We will overcome this difficult period and succeed.

Vladimir Putin’s first inauguration ceremony took place in May 2000. At that time, he pledged to preserve and develop democracy and to protect Russia.
