The Wall Street Journal: Tehran gains access to cyber weapons through Moscow

The Wall Street Journal reported in its Monday, March 27th issue that with the growing military cooperation between Iran and Russia, Tehran is gaining access to cyber weapons through Moscow.

The American newspaper adds that Moscow has likely provided Tehran with advanced software for hacking the phones and computers of dissidents and opponents.

The Wall Street Journal, citing its sources, writes that since the start of the Ukraine war, Russia has provided the Islamic Republic with communication surveillance tools, advanced eavesdropping and photography equipment, and lie detectors.

The newspaper continues in its report that Iran and Russia have complex cyber capabilities and signed a cyber cooperation agreement two years ago that mostly pertained to cyber defense networks.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Russian officials have stated that developing military relations with the Islamic Republic will have benefits that will outweigh the negative aspects of these relations.
