Tehran Computer Trade Organization President’s warning to Raisi: Internet restrictions do not help the country’s future
The president of the Tehran Computer Trade Organization warned Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, that the current internet disruptions and restrictions do not help the future of the country.
Hossein Eslami, the president of the Computer Trade Organization, claimed on Monday, April 17, in a meeting with digital economy activists, that in recent months a change in approach at the National Cyberspace Center is quite noticeable.
The claim of a change in approach at the National Cyberspace Center has been made while it coincided with nationwide protests in Iran, during which many applications, including Instagram and WhatsApp, were filtered.
According to a report published by the technology company Top10VPN, an independent VPN service website, in mid-January, the people of Iran experienced 4,863 hours of social media access cuts and 130 hours of severe internet disruptions in the early months of winter.
