The Washington Post: China is building supersonic spy drones

The Washington Post wrote on Tuesday that the Chinese military intends to soon deploy a high-altitude spy drone with a speed at least three times the speed of sound.

The newspaper wrote this report citing a leaked confidential document from the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

This document, which Euronews cannot independently verify, contains satellite images recorded on August 9. In these images, two reconnaissance drones with WZ-8 rocket propulsion are shown at an airbase in eastern China, about 350 miles (560 kilometers) from Shanghai.

U.S. assessments in this document indicate that the People’s Liberation Army of China has almost certainly established its first unmanned aerial unit at this base.

So far, the U.S. Department of Defense and Chinese officials have not commented on this matter.
