Washington Post Claims Iran Has 5 Nuclear Bombs

The Washington Times, in a report titled ‘Has Iran Built Nuclear Weapons?’ claimed that the Islamic Republic currently possesses 5 bombs, and this number could increase to 12 by mid-May next year.

Some intelligence estimates claimed that the Islamic Republic could have enough weapon-grade enriched uranium for one bomb in one week and for five nuclear bombs in six weeks. More than three months have passed since these estimates.

The newspaper also noted that publicizing Iran’s acquisition of nuclear bombs might face serious opposition from the U.S. and Israel. It claimed that the Islamic Republic is trying to acquire more nuclear weapons and, after ensuring they have destructive bombs, would start using them.

Meanwhile, Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, recently acknowledged that Iran does not have nuclear weapons, but there are concerns about its capabilities to reach bomb-making capability.
