White House Added to Senior U.S. Security Officials' Chat Group Due to a Journalist's Inadvertent Mistake

The White House was added to a senior U.S. security officials’ chat group due to a journalist’s inadvertent mistake.

The White House confirmed that a journalist was inadvertently added to a senior U.S. security officials’ messaging group, including the Secretary of Defense, regarding the planning of military attacks on Yemen.

Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, who was added to this group, wrote about it saying, ‘I didn’t think it was real, but then the bombing started.’

Goldberg explained that on March 13, he was added to a chat group on the Signal app by the U.S. National Security Advisor.

This group was formed with the aim of coordinating actions related to the Houthis.

The U.S. National Security Council announced that it is investigating the reason for this individual’s mistaken addition to the officials’ chat group.
