The White House suspension of tariffs does not include Canada and Mexico
France 24, quoting a White House official, reported that the U.S. tariffs on goods imported from Mexico and Canada will not be affected by the 90-day suspension announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
The official explained that the 25% U.S. tariff on goods imported from Mexico and Canada will continue. Additionally, imports of energy sector products and potash from these two countries will have a 10% tariff.
U.S. President Donald Trump, following a 90-day halt on reciprocal tariffs on goods from countries around the world entering the U.S., except for China whose tariff has been increased, stated that China wants to reach an agreement but does not know how to do it. He mentioned that an agreement with China might be reached.
